Two prestigious educators, Dr. Judith Boettcher and Mr. Dean Pape will be the keynote speakers at the conference. Their presentations will be a combination of seminar/ hands-on workshop activities. Judith V. Boettcher, Ph.D. - University of Florida
Judith V. Boettcher is a consultant and author in Instructional Design, faculty development and online and distance learning. Judith is a lecturor at the University of Florida, in Distance, Continuing in Executive Education and an independent consultant with a consulting practice, Desiging for Learning. Judith was the Executive Director of CREN from 1997-2003 and served as the program director and co-host of the CREN audio Webcast Tech Talks for six years. Before joining CREN, Judith was the director of the Office of Interactive Distance Learning at Florida State University and the Director of Education Technology Services at Penn State University. She served as the project leader for the Educational Uses of Information Technology (EUIT) Joe Wyatt Challenge EDUCOM project, 1990-1992, editing the publication 101 Success Stories of Information Technology in Higher Education: The Joe Wyatt Challenge, McGraw-Hill, 1993. Judith is the author of many features and columns in higher education magazines, including publications such as Campus Technology (Formerly Syllabus), The Technology Source, and EDUCAUSE. She is also the editor and co-editor of books addressing planning, design and implementation issues of higher education technology and distance and online learning. Judith is the co-author with Rita Marie Conrad of the Faculty Guide for Moving Teaching and Learning to the Web, 2 nd edition (2004). An August 2005 article in Campus Technology focused on an e-learning question “Are We Making any Money?” Judith is one of the editors of the 4-volume Encyclopedia of Distance Learning, 2005/Idea Group. Judith has a Ph.D. in education and cognitive psychology from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s degree in English from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Mr. Dean Pape, Ripon College
Dean Pape is Assistant Professor of Communication and Coordinator of First-Year Studies at Ripon College. He also serves as Director of Communicating Plus, an interdisciplinary program designed to enhance teaching and learning across all divisions and academic programs of the college in the areas of problem solving, critical thinking, and oral and written communication. Pape presents to faculty and administrators from wide-ranging disciplines at conferences and workshops around the state, region, and nation. He brings passion and a commitment to student learning to his workshops Dean Pape is an active participant of The Collaboration for the Advancement of College Teaching & Learning. This collaboration is an alliance of colleges and universities that supports and promotes outstanding college teaching and learning. They provide distinctive cross-disciplinary, multicultural, and practical educational development that draws on cutting-edge knowledge to help colleges and universities excel in educating the students, workforce, citizens, and leaders of the 21 st century.
